About L.A.S.M.A.
The Association was formed many years ago to co-ordinate the efforts and aspirations of the many local authority sign shops in all areas of the UK. Currently, there are over 80 Members from sign shops large and small as well as Affiliate Members. Affiliates represent the trade supplying sign making materials and equipment. The membership is represented by a Committee who meet about four times a year and general meetings, to which all are invited are arranged at differing venues. Regional meetings in Wales and Scotland are arranged to discuss particular issues in these areas.
The principal business of the members is that of making traffic signs to current Department for Transport regulations but increasingly areas of diversification are explored to widen the range of signage offered. Currently, the implications of the new European Directive on the manufacture and erection of traffic signs is an item very much under discussion as is the recognised form of training for sign shop personnel. News, items of interest and membership updates are circulated to all paid up members and affiliates of the Association. This publication is called "Directions" and there are four issues a year. The Editor welcomes all contributions, not necessarily sign orientated and sign "howlers" are frequently featured. Should you wish to advertise your company or product in the newsletter please contact the Editor for details of very competitive rates.
New Members & Affiliates are welcomed, please contact the Secretary.
